“MOOC facilitators training” now available in English

The genesis of MOOC in France
A MOOC (Massive Online Open Course) is an online self-training course. It is made up of a variety of different types of content and educational activities and allows everyone to progress at their own pace.
The idea of having a Climate Fresk MOOC came about in 2020 when there were fewer trainers than there are today. There weren’t enough green belts to meet the NGO’s needs. The goal of the MOOC was to make the necessary content for facilitators training more accesible, so that people could be trained more quickly. This, in turn, helps them to participate in and grow the community of Freskers and increase Climate Fresk’s rate of growth in France!
The first MOOC was a big success and was followed by tow more. So, in France there are currently 3 different MOOCs available:
- The “facilitators training MOOC” that we’re writing about today.
Lasting approximately 2 hours, it is designed for facilitators to-be (the course is followed by a two hour session with a trainer from the NGO) as well any facilitator who wants to improve their facilitation techniques.
- The “Level 1 MOOC”
It is designed for facilitators who want to develop their knowledge of the Climate Fresk content, and learn more about the cause and consequences of climate change, by getting into the details of the 42 cards and other important topics related to the climate.
- Finally, the brand new “MOOC junior”
As the name suggests, this MOOC, that lasts approximately 1 hour, is designed to train facilitators on the junior version of the workshop. You may access it by clicking here.
The facilitator training MOOC goes international!
As the Climate Fresk continued to grow rapidly internationally, it became important to enrich the training process in English. That’s what’s been done with this MOOC! It’s a resource that’s full of tips for facilitating a workshop: techniques, positions to take, different formats … all designed to help you improve your knowledge and progress along the Fresker’s journey!
For the time being, it features the same videos that are in the French version but with English subtitles. But, we’re just getting started. By the end of 2022, we hope to have produced an updated version with English videos. We’re also planning to tackle the subtitling for the Junior MOOC in the coming months.
