Feedback from the General Assembly: an uninterrupted exponential growth, the result of the commitment of a great community!
On Saturday 24th September, the NGO’s ordinary General Assembly took place. Many of you followed this event, either in person or remotely from all over the world. This was a superb illustration of your commitment and of the increasing international dynamic of our activities.
The GA was an opportunity to present the evolution of the NGO, to celebrate specific Climate Fresk projects, to vote on the annual report and the financial report, but above all to discuss the future prospects of the NGO!
Four major topics were discussed: the 500,000 participants milestone and our expectation to reach one million participants by 2023, the evolution of the association’s purpose, and the launch of the platform! But also the current difficulties in meeting the growing demand for Climate Fresk workshops and trainings, as well as the bottleneck when transitioning from belt to belt.
Before all these points, as important as they are, we talked about you: freskers. Climate Fresk exists thanks to you, thanks to all of you. You are the ones who bring the NGO to life, who raise awareness, who act and who make everything possible. For all this, we have only one thing to say to you: Thank you!

The milestone of one million participants is on the horizon for the first quarter of 2023!
What a joy to learn that more than 525,000 people have participated in a workshop. There are now more than 25,000 Freskers, in 180 countries, including more than 50 with one or more national co-coordinators. The game is even translated into 45 languages!
As you know, the counter is based on your declarations but we all forget to fill it in sometimes… So it seems that we have actually reached more people than the official figure 🙂 This is confirmed by a survey carried out free of charge for us by Kantar, the world leader in data analytics, research and brand consulting (thank you) with a sample of the French population over 15 years old. The result is exciting: there is a 90% chance that we have reached more than 750,000 people in France alone!
To keep track, we will nevertheless continue to use the official counter figure: so don’t forget to add your participants! We’ll talk more about this below, but the new platform will greatly help us to have a more comprehensive figure.
In the end, the number of participants doubled in 8 months, so in 4 to 6 months we should reach the million mark! It will be time for a big celebration in early 2023 (we’re thinking about how to celebrate!).
This milestone led the Board to reflect on the NGO's purpose
When we founded the NGO, our aim was to ‘fresk’ as many people as possible as quickly as possible.
The Board of Directors has considered the dynamics of the NGO after it has reached one million participants, and has reflected on how we can continue to act with impact, commitment and relevance. After reflecting and debating, they clarified the association’s purpose. It is both ambitious and engaging:
To accelerate the understanding of climate issues on a global level in order to help trigger the necessary changes for the preservation of life as soon as possible.
The first phase of development, which took us from 1,000 participants to nearly 1 million, has proven our ability to scale up. It has also given us confidence in our ability to change the trajectory of the global economy in the coming years.
By raising awareness of climate change, the NGO now confirms its objective to trigger a shift towards an ecological transition on a global level. More than ever, we need everyone’s help to achieve this! We are currently planning how to implement it. A plan will be drawn up at the end of the year. We’ll keep you posted!
The platform is launched!
The big event of the autumn is the launch of this platform, after more than a year’s work by the permanent product team!
Previously, publishing workshops online required many tools (Eventbrite, Time.ly…). It was complicated and time consuming.
With this new platform, it’s the end of complexity! Climate Fresk now has its own digital tool. Simple to use without changing habits, it makes it easier to progress in the Fresker’s journey, strengthens our capacity to engage facilitators and makes the counter more reliable.

The transition bottleneck from Orange to Green belt: an ongoing issue
There is an increasing demand from organisations for workshops and training courses for their employees. Our success is impressive: the NGO receives more than 600 incoming requests per month!
However, this success is also a challenge, and it is becoming more and more apparent that we lack the number or availability of Green belts to meet it. The Green belts are the Freskers who train new facilitators and who constitute the “Pros” of the NGO. They are one of the essential pillars of the NGO’s development.
However, there is a bottleneck when transitioning from Orange to Green belt.
For your information, here are the belt passing figures for the first half of the year.
- 8,911 people became white belts (welcome!)
- 1,570 got their Orange belts (well done!)
- 117 have gone Green (applause for you!)
- 18 are now Blue (congratulations!)

The NGO is seriously looking into the matter. We will listen to you in the coming months to understand and unblock the situation. As for you, if you want to become a pro, a trainer, don’t hesitate to climb from belt to belt to become Green or Blue : )
