The Climate Fresk launches its quality label: “Certified Climate Fresk”

You may have heard about it already, and it is now released: our NGO is launching its own quality label: “Certified Climate Fresk”! In the context of the rapid and important scaling-up of Climate Fresk uses, this certification aims to guarantee the quality of the workshops and facilitation training sessions carried out by other organizations.

As you all know, our objective is to raise awareness regarding climate change among as many people as possible, as quickly as possible (one million! one million!… and more!). This label is conceived as a way to encourage organizations to massively offer workshops for their employees, without any concession made regarding the NGO’s high quality standards.

You can find more information below. If you want to exchange further with the Label Working Group, a video presentation with a Q&A session (code: 894425) is organized for the community on Wednesday, October 5th at 6:00PM. This session will be in French.

What is this label?

The “Certified Climate Fresk” label is a way to validate the proper progress of the deployment in autonomy within an organization in France, as well as the quality of the organized workshops. This certification confirms that the organization enables its employees to have a systemic vision of the causes and consequences of climate change.

This label applies exclusively to the deployment of the Climate Fresk tool, and not to the organization itself. It does not measure the organization’s impact on the climate, nor does it evaluate its overall commitment to the fight against climate change.

It is delivered for one year. It can be renewed, but also withdrawn if the label principles and criteria are not respected anymore within the organization. You can find more info about these criteria below.

Do not hesitate to talk about the label around you! Organizations can learn more about it during the presentation session held on Thursday, October 13th from 1:00PM to 2:00PM. It will be in French. They can apply to get certified at the following email address: label@fresqueduclimat.org

For whom is the label intended?

The certification is intended for all types of organizations that have chosen to deploy the Climate Fresk in complete autonomy: companies, local authorities, institutions, higher education establishments, associations, etc.

We talk about “deployment” when an organization decides to offer the Climate Fresk workshop to a large part of its employees. This requires an internal organization to set up and monitor the project: encouraging employees to participate, organizing logistics, setting up training sessions, etc.

In 2021, a dozen companies volunteered to beta-test the labeling process, including Accenture France, Constellation, Fayat Fondations, Greenflex and the Bel Group, which have just obtained the seal of approval. These pilot companies allowed us to improve and specify the label, its criteria, and our certification method.

What’s in it for these organizations?

To get “Certified Climate Fresk” allows organizations,

  • to ensure that their internal deployment is carried out in an optimal way;
  • to objectively claim their commitment to improving climate change awareness to their stakeholders;
  • to increase the sense of belonging of their employees;
  • to strengthen their employer brand.

What are the criteria for the “Certified Climate Fresk” label?

The label is awarded objectively and impartially. To obtain it, an organization must ensure its Climate Fresk deployment comply with the NGO’s exacting standards. Those are based on 4 pillars:

  • A strong will to raise awareness: the involvement of management bodies, an ambitious deployment following a sustained schedule, etc.
  • The organization of workshops and training sessions in compliance with the NGO’s recommendations: respect of the different phases of the workshop, adequate duration, etc.
  • The mobilization of an identified internal team to manage consistently the project.
  • The implication of competent facilitators and trainers: well-trained trainers, internal facilitators following the Fresker Curriculum offered by the NGO, which allows them to acquire and reinforce their skills and knowledge, etc.

What concretely happens during an audit?

An auditor mandated by the association is appointed. S/He will attest to the compliance of the candidate organization’s deployment with the NGO’s recommendations, in particular through interviews, as well as one or more observations of workshops and/or facilitation training sessions, depending on the size of the organization. An audit grid is to be filled in as the process progresses by both the candidate organization and the auditor. The audit process takes between 4 and 12 weeks depending on the size of the organization and the deployment project.

Who can become an auditor?

It is to be noted that it is the Fresk association that contracts with the candidate organization. The certification is delivered by the Climate Fresk NGO, not by an individual.

Only blue belts, the most experienced ones, can become auditors on behalf of the association. Candidate auditors follow a co-option process by the Label Working Group. The candidates will be trained during their first audit carried out in pairs.

If you want to become an auditor and you are not blue, we strongly encourage you to take your belt!

The more people we have, the better!

How much does it cost?

The label cost is annual. It depends on the organization’s deployment stage, and more precisely on the number of facilitators and internal trainers the organization counts.

What if an organization contacts you to get certified?

Only the Climate Fresk association grants the label. We invite you to direct the requesting organization to the NGO through label@fresqueduclimat.org. The deployment team will take care of their request. On Thursday, October 13th from 1:00PM to 2:00PM, a presentation session of the NGO will be held in French for the organizations.

Interested? You have a question?

If you want to exchange on the subject, a presentation video (code : 894425) followed by a Q&A session with the Label Working Group is organized in French for the community on Wednesday, October 5th at 6:00PM.

Please do not hesitate to talk about it around you!
