Climate Fresk reaches Uganda!

An exciting collaboration has led to the first Climate Fresk workshops and facilitation trainings being held in Uganda!

In a trailblazing project, Climate Fresk has partnered with an NGO working to improve reproductive health to raise awareness among its staff, and equip facilitators in Uganda to run the Fresk.

This was no easy task, as it turned out, and required green belts Sophie and Tanguy to be flexible and persistent. In the end, they battled through dodgy internet connections and monsoon-related disruptions to successfully run their workshops and train 28 brand-new facilitators! Some of the new facilitators had previously benefited from the NGO’s work and are now ‘peer educators’ and agents of change in their community. Great stuff!

The debrief stages were carefully tailored to the local context, since many of the participants live very different lives to those from a European city, for instance. The actions generated were based on preserving the forest and on the impact of livestock. These are directly relevant to the daily lives of the participants, many of whom lived in remote rural parts of the country.

Climate Fresk is growing in East Africa: Kenya already has an active country coordinator and the makings of a strong fresking community; Tanzania is taking its first steps with the tool; and the cards are being translated into Kiswahili, which will enable the workshop to reach many more people!

Well done to the team who ran this project, and good luck to the new Ugandan facilitators!

Climate Collage is now Climate Fresk!

We are still the same! We just changed our name ;)
