Progress along your Climate Fresk journey

The goal of this course is to encourage the whole community to progress by explaining the necessary steps in the journey and by enabling knowledge-sharing between facilitators.

There are specific requirements for attaining each belt and they provide different benefits as well.

You manage your own progression until you reach orange belt. Beyond that, you will need validation from belt-holders above you to pass to the next level.

Frequently asked questions

The only compulsory steps are those indicated in the rules of the journey. These conditions are sufficient to access the higher belt level.

The actions listed in tips and advices are optional, but they will allow you to consolidate your knowledge and help keep the community alive!

You should contact the people who have validated these co-optations and ask them to register these co-optations again from their “Assessments” tab.

Tips and advice for each stage of the journey

Once you have completed the training, you have all the basics to get started. You will automatically become a yellow belt by facilitating a workshop!

If you want to expand your climate knowledge and get involved in the community, you can follow the tips below.

Expand your climate knowledge

  • Consult the resources available on the platform:
    • Read the self-training guide
    • Watch the video
    • Do the MOOC version of the facilitator training
    • Do the MOOC Level 1

Join the community

But most of all, facilitate ! It is by fresking that we become freskers 😉

Organise a fresk by yourself, with your friends, family, colleagues, or through the NGO and work with another facilitator, by registering for an animation opportunity! More info.

You will automatically become an orange belt when you have facilitated or co-lead 10 workshops.

You will see how quickly you improve and gain confidence! Follow the tips below to strengthen your knowledge further.

Expand your climate knowledge

Diversify your experience

  • Co-facilitate workshops with White Belt facilitators
  • Facilitate several tables simultaneously (start with 2, then 3!)
  • Facilitate a Fresk Quiz
  • Lead a Junior Fresk (by preparing with the MOOC Junior Fresk)

Stimulate the community

  • Join the NGO
  • Update your linkedIn profile and mention that you are a Climate Fresk facilitator
  • Organize a social fresk event

Here, the course gets a little tougher, but that’s to be expected! By becoming a green belt, you will be able to train new white belts, but you’ll also be able to apply for paid facilitation opportunities that come through the NGO.

You have to complete 4 assignments in the following order to get to the next level. Don’t worry if you don’t pass one of the assessments, it’s totally fine. Listen to the feedback, learn from the advice and try again later with someone else.

1. Facilitate 15 workshops

This one is self-explanatory! You will automatically complete this step as soon as your counter reaches this threshold.

2. Facilitate a workshop while being observed by a green belt

  • Identify a green belt who is available to observe you in a workshop. You can find one through the telegram channel: “Path to Green Belt – Find a co-opter ”. Please be specific in your request ie “I’m looking for a trainer who can observe a workshop on Day/Time/Location”.
  • On the day, you facilitate the workshop as normal.
  • The green belt assesses whether to validate you using the evaluation in the platform.

3. Complete an interview with a green belt

  • Identify a green belt who is available to conduct this interview of approximately 1 hour. You can find them through the telegram loop : “Path to Green Belt – Find a co-opter ”. Please be specific in your request ie “I’m looking for a trainer who can conduct the interview on Day/Time/Location”.
  • Complete your assessment to prepare for the green belt’s questions.
  • The green belt assesses whether to validate you using the evaluation in the platform.

4. Facilitate a first facilitation training while being observed by a blue belt

  • Observe a facilitation training session, to refresh your memory on how a training session is conducted
  • Attend a briefing on the training material to familiarise yourself with the green belt’s tools.
  • Find an instructor who will observe your training, via the Telegram Chat “Validate Green Belt – Find an Instructor”. Please be specific in your request ie “I’m looking for an instructor who can observe a workshop / interview me on Day/Time/Location”.
  • On the D-day, you run the facilitation training by your own.
  • The blue belt assesses whether to validate you using the evaluation in the platform.

At the same time, you can continue learning by browsing the resources in the  “Expand your climate knowledge” section.

Expand your climate knowledge

You’ve already come a long way and can play now a more strategic role in helping Climate Fresk to grow. Indeed, the movement’s vitality depends on new facilitators being trained!

There are 3 missions you need to undertake to get to the next level.

1. Run 20 facilitation training sessions

Facilitate anytime, in any context! We encourage you to vary the formats (classic or post-MOOC with the NGO’s support)

2. Complete an interview with a blue belt

  • Identify a blue belt who is available to conduct this interview of about 1 hour. You can do this by surveying the green belts around you, or by consulting this file.
  • The blue belt assesses wether to validate you using the evaluation in the platform.

3. Co-evaluate someone’s first facilitator’s training, alongside a blue belt.

  • Identify a blue belt who is available to co-evaluate with you a facilitation training (step 4 of green to blue belt journey). You can do this by surveying the blue belts around you, or by consulting this file.
  • On the day, you observe and evaluate the facilitation training session with the other blue belt.
  • The blue belt assesses whether to validate you using the evaluation in the platform.

Your role: evaluate as many orange and green belts as possible to enable them to progess in their journey (you can enter your availability in this table for green candidates, ad this table for blue candidates)

The rest of the programme is under construction 😉
